Ok, today i installed my 2 new parts from OcUK...

Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-224-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1485

And...

OCZ Obsidians http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-181-OC

So... the problem is, is that when i boot up, it will only get half way through the Windows 7 animated logo saying "Starting Windows" (Or something) and then stop and restart... this is a constant loop, I've tried startup repair and system restore... both have been unsuccessful....

Many people have had similar things happen with their own Gigabyte Motherboards and most solutions even though there are very few do not solve the problem...

Please help... or im going to have to send the Motherboard back...

I had this problem with a new Gigabyte motherboard i brought a few months ago, OCUK tested and it was faulty.

Indeed many people have had the same problem... It mostly being due to faulty board... however a lot of people have sorted the problem out... I hope to be one of these people...

Unless you are using an identical motherboard it's good practise to reinstall. That must be your problem then. Back everything up if you haven't already and get a fresh install on and see if it works ok.

Hmm, i see well that sucks as i dont have any OS disks in my house :/... but if your saying that is the solution, i will have to get 1...

Windows 7 32bit... however i was going to borrow a disk off a friend from College for the 64bit seeing as i got 4Gb of Ram. However i do not see him until the 4th...

Have you tried starting in safe mode and uninstalling all the old drivers and then installing the new ones? Probably worth a try, might be a bodge fix for now.

I think ill wait and have to ask around for any OS CD... i dont mind if its Vista or XP for now...

Until i can get W7 disk...

Thanks all btw...

So are you guys quite certain that the problem is due to me not doing a fresh install of an OS... because a lot of the problems similar I read up on had their loop a lot earlyier in the startup than the Starting Windows animation. I hope to god that this will fix the problem... I just got the task of finding an OS disk, as I have just searched my house and have not had any luck... But just need some confirmation that you guys are pretty sure this is the cause...

Update:

This morning i turned it on just out of curiosity to see if anything has changed and it came up with a different type of system repair menu, and i ended up reformatting the hard disk and reinstalling factory setting on it...

So it shut down, booted up got as far as it normally would, but instead of the windows 7 animation stopping half way... i got a nice BSOD instead... it will shut down and loop like this from now on...

My old Motherboard was a - Gigabyte S Series GA-G31MF-S2

Now should i just leave it until i can get hold of a OS Disk and do a fresh install of an OS to see if that works, or has this BSOD insidint putting the blame on something different?

Also in the BIOS my HDD is set to IDE :)

Update:

I have just rung up a computing shop near me and they think it is the same problem that all of you guys are saying... the frsh OS install...

I just hope this BSOD loop isnt going to mess things up when i do finally get round to doing a fresh install...

Right, I'll add my vote and make that a count of roughly 21 for OS Reinstall.
You've replaced the most integral part of your PC, the one that Windows links to it's OEM products, the one that links ALL of your other components and you are not sure about reinstalling the OS ? All you need is for the OS to have one driver that doesn't quite understand what the new motherboard is trying to tell it and your system will BSOD.
And once you have reinstalled what I assume will be a legal OS and all is well, maybe your title should read " Really Angry at myself ! "

thanks for your input, but theres not need to be like this about it... I know i need to install an OS but atm i do not have disk to install one...

But thanks guys... I will update when i have done a fresh install...

I'm just waiting now until Monday until i can get a OS Disk of my Mate from College... I'm sure that will do the trick...

Thanks guys... Happy New Year :)
