Really annoying issue

Hi all

I have recently upgraded my mobo and cpu (see spec below) and also gone to Windows 8.1 from 7. Anyway, I have 2 1TB Samsung F3 HDDs, one which I have been using for about 3 years, the other I was given as a spare.

In games I'm hearing clicking and when it happens my game freezes, only for about half a second, but it's really annoying aand pretty frequent too. I have tried it in World of Tanks, Skyrim and CS:GO...all do the same thing when loading during gameplay.

Now when I installed this originally I used software RAID 0 through Windows, I then after figuring it out reinstalled Windows and configured them for RAID0 through Intel Rapid Storage, THEN I got rid of RAID and have them as separate drives. I have put WOT on both, unplugged a drive, played it..unplugged the other drive...played it. I've run out of things to try and I cannot find anything on Google. Does anyone know what this could be? As far as I know all my drivers are up to date, as is Windows now.

Any help I'd honestly be happy with!

Spec:
Asus Z97-K mobo
Intel i5 4690k Devils Canyon - stock timings, stock cooler
2 X 4GB Samsung Green @ 1600mhz 9-9-9-24
2 X 1TB Samsung HD103SJ SpinPoint F3 HDD
1 X Crucial M4 120gb SSD running Windows 8.1
Corsair 750W PSU
XFX Black Edition Radeon 6780 running out of the box OC
Asus Essence ST sound card (running unified drivers)

try an older/newer version of intel rapid storage drivers, pretty sure its soemthign to do with that as I had same clocking but no freezing

could also be intel management driver version

Thanks both for your help. Using an older version of the driver sorted my issue out nicely! Oddly enough after you said this I wondered how long this issue had be pre-existing and it turns out quite a while. It is my first Intel board and CPU and to be honest I thought they were supposed to be pretty damn good for drivers and support.

It's working now though so not fussed, backed my data back up and back on RAID0.

Thanks!
