really big 5870 issue

I have only a few days ago got a gigabyte 5870 from this site but im having problems with crashes not just to desktop but the whole PC now Im probably going to send it back but was wondering if it could be resolved or at least analysised the crashes are not blue screens but the screen just abruptly changes in to grey coloured vertical lines this doesnt happen in all games just so crysis (the most intensive game i have) runs great as well as benchmarks suggest and if it were a stress issue i would expect crysis to be the worst. What could the problem be and is it fixable or should i exchange it?

list all your system specs, include your OS and Power supply, it may make it a little easier to help.

whats your memory make and model, have you set the timings for the memory in the bios and was your system ok before the graphics card upgrade

it was perfectly fine before upgrade no problems ever (used to have dual 8800GTS 512 SLI) memory timings are about 5-5-5-15 ill just go check make + model

Are you keeping an eye on your temps when gaming? do you have good airflow through your case?

hmm cant find the make or model (though i think it is OCZ make)

temps were about 75 under load so i turned up the fan

did you do a clean install of windows before the graphics upgrade

no i didnt think it nessisary didn't do it when upgrading from x1650 pro to my 8800 GTS's

well personally going from nvidia to ati, i would now do a clean install to rule out old nvidia driver issues, got to be worth it as if you rma and its found to be ok you will have to stump up a testing fee and postage on top of it

that wouldnt be too wise if its not working at stock settings
