Really Bizarre Search Index Behaviour

Hey guys check out this animated GIF i just made from my PC:

Basically if i search for "event viewer", the search index seems to be missing the last letter from the keyword "event", so if I type "even", it will show the correct result, but as soon as I write the entire word, it can't find anything.

It does this for a select few other search items/keywords too, but not all of them.

I've tried rebuilding my search index and this hasn't fixed anything at all, and I'm getting kind of annoyed because my vista search indexes my outlook emails too, and when running searches in outlook sometimes it doesn't find what I'm looking for, even though I know they are there.

Can anyone help? Anyone else experienced this problem?

P.S. I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate

I have indexing turned off. I store all my files on my home server. No point keeping it on.

I dont know, cool gif though. I find indexing a bit unreliable. I used it all the time on OS X it's a shame the Windows version doesn't seem as good.

Just to clarify to all, if I were to search for "viewer", it finds "event viewer" fine, it just happens to be a select few keywords
