Here's a crazy idea. Keep the Passat. Finish uni (or drop out, depending on the amount of 'arsed' you have), buy something decent then.

I'll mention the cigarettes. If you can give up if fuel costs go up, you can give up now. A flippant comment like this suggests you won't give up at all.

Be realistic with yourself, and don't end up overstretching financially.

Save the money, wait till you graduate then buy. No point in splashing out on a car while you're at uni, plus if you live in Mutley and park on the road there's a good chance it'll get keyed or the wing mirrors kicked off.
