Really cheap tripod

Just in case anyone is looking for a really cheap tripod, which I think is pretty good quality for the price then the big green supermarket (not sure if I can mention the name) has some in.

It folds down to around 30cm and seems to be reasonable build quality. It has a screw on connector rather than quick release but I don't mind.

Can't remember the make (at work now) otherwise I'd try and find a pic.

I'm only just starting so while I learn I can't really fault the price at £12.97! :D

You'll be talking about ASDA then. ASDA ASDA ASDA ASDA!!!

AFAIK supermarkets are not competitors. People rattle on about Tesco/Sainsburys etc all the time, and they all sell PC peripherals/photography eqpt. to a greater or lesser degree.

As for the tripod, sounds OK, and small as it is sounds like a good thing to sling in a small bag with your camera. Post some pics of it later! I have a small/pants tripod which fits in my bag, but I don't think I trust it with my 20D seeing as it would fall over quite readily in windy conditions! It did only cost me £2 from a local house clearance shop though.

/edit

Just tried it with my 20D, and it seems stable-ish. I might take it out with me sometimes just incase. It wobbles for a while once you move the camera on it though!

The $1 million dollor question is will it survive a gust of wind !

If you hang a bag underneath it it will become more stable and less likely to blow over.

If I hang a bag from it, the leg sections will close together. It really is that flimsy!

I do have another tripod, although it's really old, and somewhat awkward in character is reasonably sturdy. Whenever I set it up, theres a good chance the leg section I release will shoot off onto the floor. It weighs too much too. I need a new one :p

Does it look anything like this?

I bought it a few year ago when I still had a P&S, never got round to replacing it as it does what I need (only just :p), despite not being the best build quality.

It was £15, from a competitor, but recently I've been seeing them everywhere. Mine doesn't have anywhere to hang a weight from though.

Checked and it looks like it's a HAMA Star 700 EF Digital - which by looking I can see for £9.99 on the web, oh well ASDA was convenient.

It seems pretty stable to me, got a spirit level as well.
