Really cheap upgrade needed...

I'm wanting to upgrade my opty 170 to a C2D setup that is more powerful but spending as little money as possible.
I'll need a new MB, CPU & Ram & will hopefully get some money selling my old stuff.
Could anyone spec me a cheap as chips upgrade that could hopefully push over 11k 36Mark06..? The cheaper the better

That's what I'd pick for a cheap upgrade. Problem is however you aren't going to hit 11k in 3dmark06 with a chip that low in speed, you are going to have to overclock it therefore need a good cooler which'll add on £35 ish.

That's the super cheap one. The board is old but still nice, but again you'll need to overclock and this board is good at that. The chip is reduced from a e2160 so it would mean more overclocking, and you'd still need a cooler for £35.

If you don't like overclocking then the lowest CPU I'd recommend for 11k with your video card is probably a E6750, if you added that to the 2nd build then it comes in at £250 incl. delivery, and then you don't need a £35 cooler.

I overclock already so have no probs with that..?
Would it be a good upgrade or not noticable?

i'd get the e2160 as it has a x9 mulitplier instead of x7 on the 2140?

Probably not at stock, things will definetly be quicker but I don't think you instantly notice them. However when overclocking you will, especially paste 2.2ghz range.
