Really Cloudy Water

Hi all,

I rebuilt my water cooling rig back in June and within 2 weeks the water started to go cloudy. I posted on here shortly after that for advice but I haven't changed the water yet because it appeared to be only leaching from the tubing.

Anyway, since then it's continued to get worse and worse and now there seems to be a film on top of the water in my res with stringy white bits moving, like a reef sort of when the pump is on. I am using the feser bi-distilled water, silver kill coil and corrosion blocker. The only things that has changed since the last setup is my heat killer 7970 water block, pump and the tubing. The pump is the same model as last time. My previous rig was absolutely fine for 3 years and when I drained it the water was as clear as the day it went in so I think it must be to do with the tubing this time.

I really don't want to pull the rig apart and replace the tubing as I simply don't have the time to do it yet. I was thinking I might siphon the water out from the rest and put some more in to flush it a few times and then replace the water again. Do I get the same water or shall I go for something completely different? By the way, my temps haven't been affected at all.

Hi Meoricin,

I did flush all the parts except for the gpu waterblock as I hadn't read anything about needing to flush it. The water has no additives because I use the silver kill coil and corrosion blocker. I was thinking it might be best to get some pre-mixed stuff this time but I didn't need it last time as it lasted for 3 years.
 
Ok ill flush it a few times. There was only one stringy bit in the res and it thinks fallen from the film off the top if the water so hopefully it wont be elsewhere. I'll just the bi-distilled water again with silver kill coil and corrosion blocker then. Hopefully a few flushes should sort me short term. Thanks.

You might want to plan for a strip down sooner rather than later though, as if it is plasticiser then it will be building up and coating the inside of your rad, which can be a bitch to flush and get every bit out. Speaking from experience.

Ahh right I see. Yeah I'll still flush and replace water and then look to do it after crimbo maybe. Every year for some reason I never get to do any gaming over crimbo. I will this year without fail! ha ha
