Around 10 months ago I replaced the default bulbs in my car with some Osram nightbreakers.

Left hand dipped beam went pop earlier this week.

I've got some replacement bulbs (again, some nightbreakers).

Do I replace both or just replace the faulty bulb and keep the second nightbreaker as a spare?

Also, is it wrong to expect a bulb to last a bit longer than 10 months?

Replace the broken one only. The spare bulb goes to the house.

10 months is poo but then I had one last me only 6 months... halogen is crap if you use them for DRL. I've now gone HID which apparently last 3-4x longer.

As in aftermarket HID?
Cool - 100% legal until you take your car on a public road.

For those people wanting to keep their cars legal then upgraded bulbs certainly do the job.
Only problem is they don't last as long.
Osram's seem to give you 12-18 months.
PIAA? ones apparently can fail after only 6 months and they are well expensive.

Keep the spare bulb somewhere safe in the car, it's not much use in the house if you need it and are a few hundred miles away now is it ?
