My parents' mobo has died and it's an old socket A one, they got a friend to have a look and he said that the CPU and memory will need replacing too as they're too old which sounds about right to me. So basically, looking for mobo, cpu and ram for about £150. It's only going to be used for emails and internet so nowt fancy but good enough to last a few years.

cheers.

just due to the price compared to the future-proofness really. it's quite hard to find and it's about as expensive as a new one.

that looks perfect. eeeexcept it's out of stock, and I need to get it built before I go back to uni on friday. is there any other boards?

system is dead :( i've followed all the instructions right, the only thing is that i have a 20-pin power cable and the the connector is 24 but the instructions said that it would work but possible be unstable. i'm hoping it's not another PSU as i've not got any spare parts to check..

what's a DMM? yeah it's the new parts. tbh, i think it's fairly likely the PSUs died, just didn't want it to be because it's only new and it's not my computer...

edit: tried the test, nowt. what cheap 24pin PSU could i get?
