And I'm talking about my computer :p

Anyway, nothing to joke about. Just built my computer, Asus M2N-SLI, 64bit 6400+ Amd Athlon x2, 4Gb OCZ Ram, 8800GT and a Zalman Fan (CNPS9700).

I have built this same computer with 2 different motherboards (3rd time lucky!) but this time, when I switch it on it makes a really LOUD high picthed constant beep. I can't stress about the loudness. I dont have it connected to any hardrives or optical drives. Just the basics. I havent even seen if anything comes up on the screen yet because it's so loud and I thought I might be damaging it.

The fan dosnt appear to be caught on anything...any ideas?

Thanks.

EDIT: Computer does not boot at all :(

Is it a random noise or the motherboard speaker screaming?

My motherboard speaker went ballisic when i forgot to plug the PSU>powerlead into the graphics card...

Hmm, should get a bleep rather than a scream! Make sure everything is seated properly, including memory and GPU and PSU. Try it with only one stick of RAM in and as said above, make sure your GPU is getting the power it needs.

Are you using Vista x64 and a Creative X-fi?

Is the noise coming from the case speaker or your desktop speakers?

The combo of Vista x64, X-fi and 4 gigs of ram results in a horrible noise
from the speakers.

The good news is that Creative have just released a driver that fixes it.

I had the same when the graphics did not have its external power (I missed it during a clean-up and forgot to put it back in). Its screamed at me, causing me to panic and hit the big kill switch on my desktop. Definately enough power to the graphics?

To cervaux . . too many lines in your sig. 4 lines max.
