Really low call volume. How to clean out the speaker?

My OH managed to spill flour or some such on her Huawei P30 the other and since then the volume on calls is really low. Has anyone had success in cleaning out a speaker or is this a replacement job?

I foolishly tried a wet cotton bud on it, but I think I just hardened whatever gunk was in there. It's not a waterproof phone, so I'm a bit wary of dunking it in water.

Just a thought - tried scrubbing the speaker with an old dry toothbrush?

My Xiaomi has a clear speaker function that supposedly removes dust build up.Maybe yours has something similar or is there an app available ?
Other than that I only can only think of hoovering it

Her P30 doesn’t have that mode but I did find a YouTube video that does the same think. It actually did help a bit, but the volume is still too low for normal use.
