I have no idea whats going on. I changed out my 2060 for my old GTX780, ran DDU and installed the latest drivers but now i cant play any video file without VLC or MPC freezing a few seconds in.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It seems games work fine as i played MH:W without a hitch for 10minutes but VLC/MPC just freeze after 5-10seconds, tried reinstalling them too. No video files will run, weird!

Try putting the old card back in, following the usual process, and see if it works. Then (in this order):
  • Update all of your drivers, every last one
  • Consider updating your bios
  • Delete C:\Nvidia
  • Re-download the latest driver
  • Run DDU (deep clean, inc. restart)
  • Reinstall the new graphics card
  • Install the fresh drivers
Check all the seating inside of the PC while you’re in there; I really doubt it’s the problem, but you never know.

If it’s still not working, we’ll go from there. If we can tie it down to definitely being the graphics card itself, it might be worth pursuing an RMA.

How many days ago did you buy it?

I had this issue with VLC for a while. My PC hasn't been upgraded for several years and it randomly started happening. I put it down to either the AV i installed or the recent AMD graphics driver update. It fixed itself though.

Hows the problem going, have you followed anyone's advice?

Sorry for the late reply, been busy! I followed the ideas but nothing worked, then i uninstalled the card again and reinstalled it and it all worked....no idea what could have happened! But its working now! Hopefully I can get my refund ASAP and get myself another RTX 2060, the GTX780 is a great card but i got used to games running buttery smooth!
