Around a month has passed since I have done my build and nothing has been perfect. It's extremely frustrating.

When I first built it I had a GTX 670 which keept shutting down while about 3 mins into a game. It made some bad noises at the time. As it shut down during games I obviously thought it was the PSU. So I ordered a Corsair GS700W.

When it arrived I had no more shutdowns but blotches all over my screen and it still made some bad noises. Tried everything and in the end RMA'ed it and it was faulty. While it was in RMA process I installed an old 8800 and no problem with the blotchy screen and no noise/coil whine but I did only play the FIFA 14 Demo.

Got a refund and ordered an IceQ 7950 which I planned to xfire, installed it and the noise was back
3DMark
Bioshock:

Now it depends on what game i'm playing for it to make this noise.
Little Inferno:

Same game with 8800 installed:
It's still slightly there

And finally heres a vid from Linus which is better quality but basically what is happening to me.

Finally if you've bothered getting this far, how can I pinpoint exactly what this is? As I don't want to send the wrong thing in for RMA even if I decide to RMA whatever it is as i've heard its hit and miss for coil whine.

My problem is not just the noise but when I go to upgrade with a new GFX card or even another 7950 will it still be there or get worse? I don't want to be stuck with it forever even when upgrading.

Appreciate any help

The noise you hear is called coil whine, it happens to me, normally at stupid high frame rates, its common, some go away, some get quieter.
I get it with my asus 7970 and cx750m i also had it with my msi 7950 and OCZ 1000w

Most suppliers/manufacturers wont accept coil whine as a reasonable cause for RMA.

It does get worse on games where I get higher fps. Pretty annoying that it's not a reason to RMA it as lets say I xfire the 7950 and get higher fps does that mean the noise will again get worse? Pretty annoyed even if I get a new GPU it could still happen.

Let's say I got another 7950, would I get double the coil whine? Or I get a completely new graphics card it could still be there because its hard to pinpoint what is making the noise and could be due to components working together?
