Really Noisy Graphics Card. Options Please?

Hello to all you well knowledgeable, seasoned modders and PC enthusiasts. I have been successfully gaming with a rig I put together some while ago now consisting of an I7-4770K, 16GB of RAM and a relatively new RTX 2080 graphics card which has done me well, gaming without issue at 1440p.

Recently I purchased a new monitor with 165Hz and HDR 400 and ever since my graphics card seems to be doing a lot more work as its constantly pushing the fans to 100% and making a noise like a small aircraft taking off. So, I was wondering what can be done to reduce this noise, other than tone down the settings in my games which i'm reluctant to do.

First off I was investigating purchasing a hybrid cooling solution from EVGA given its an EVGA Black 2080 but it looks as though that solutions is no longer available. Anyone else replace their stock cooling solutions on GPU's with positive results, if so advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

P.S on another note, was thinking of doing the big upgrade on the CPU/Motherboard, if it were you, what would you go for and why?

I've used NZXT G10/12 with AIO coolers with success. It's an easy solution and the components can be bought used for relatively little.

All my other gpus are custom water-cooled and it's a great option if you want extreme quiet.

EVGA cards are well supported by the likes of EK for fullcover waterblocks. Again, items like pumps, radiators, cpu blocks can be bought quite cheaply or for shedloads - depends on whether you want brand new, European made or if you're happy with Chinese knock-offs or second-hand parts.

Don't try this on any mini cards, I've pretty well documented my failure using the G12 on a Zotac 1080Ti mini cos the cooling fan overhangs the card by around 70% and so the VRM's get almost no cooling whatsoever, they got so hot that when I touched one I heard the "tsssss" of my fingerprint being removed, it was NOT fun ><

My 2080 ti xc gaming was very loud, too. The Kraken G12 solved that. Easy to install, temps now in the 40s at 2.1GHz, and quiet fans. Recommended!

So when you say easy, was it all you needed or did you need buy any other heatsinks or other items for the VRAM etc.

Undervolt the card first off in afterburner.

Shouldn't be running 100% all the time really anyway even with the xc black's thin cooler so investigate possible case fans and airflow issues, removing the front + side panel's will let you know if the case has issues.

Other than that then an AIO or watercooling will be your only other option. But to be fair it isn't cheap and the money saved could have bought a 2080S or decent 2080/2070S.

CPU upgrade i'd go for next gen ryzen. Faster and cheaper than anything intel currently have.

It's really not too hard. Buy an the G12 bracket, buy an AIO, remove GPU cover and back plate (I put the back plate back on with cable ties), and hook it up.

I also copied this guy's extra mini fans thing for the vrms not covered by the main fan, but that's just a ti thing.

That video should give you an idea of how it goes anyway.
