Hi all,

Firstly, apologies for any poor grammar or punctuation,i'm posting this from my phone.

I'm thinkin of upgrading my amd 3500 venice 939 to one of these fancy dual core ones. I'm lookin at one of the amd x2 939 cpus.

My first question, does my mobo need 2 support the dual cores or will it work nicely because it's the same 939 socket?

This is my noob question, with dual core processors can both cores be used 4 the same application?i'm thinkin gaming as an example, where there's lots goin on?obviously i'm not thinkin that both cores could be used on a single task. Such as using both cores 2 encode 1 video.

I hope i've made sense of what i'm tryin to say,and hope one of you kind souls will be able 2 help me.

your mobo should support dual core most do you may need to update your mobo bios search for the manufacturer in google and check there website for info about your mobo

both cores will encode video most video encoding software will use both cores
although this is not the case with all software it has to be written with dual core in mind

other software will still benefit from dual core the more you multitask
