Hey everyone / Admins ect

If you feel there is a more apropriate place for this thread please point it in the right direction.

I received serveral phone calls today from my boss, ( i work nights so this was surprising ) He was in a panic regarding his laptop. He needs it for a show tomorrow and it's "broke".

When i asked him how it broke or if there was any circumstances surrounding it he told me windows was updating and he turned it off ¬¬. People. Iritatingly to him i laughed and said isnt the only thing it says on the screen " please do not turn off whilst updating "

needless to say i expected the ssd to be corupted in someway however it does not entierly seem to be the case.

When you turn it on the screen goes black no mouce cursor nothing though it seems to change through several brightnesses / shades of black. This does not progress anywhere from here.

It's fine booting into safemode but no network / drivers ect.

I took the battery out and put it back in to see if it yielded any effect and it did not. I put the laptop into flight mode whilst booting. This let me get into windows without safe mode oddly. And it lets me turn flightmode back off whilst in windows. I first tried to re do the updates however this causes it to go back to a black screen doing nothing.

So after getting back into windows looking around i can't seem to work out any problem that could be causing this :/ Whilst the laptop is now up and running it can't be turned off, put into sleep mode/ Hybernation or reset. Whilst i will be telling him in the morning to leave it as is and not turn it off so he can use it for his show i would like to be able to get this to be able to sleep / reset again.

I have changed the power settings stopping the laptop going into sleep mode for now.

Im guessing you chapps will be recomending new windows? Or is there anything else that i can do to solve this before we resort to a fresh windows as there are so many programs ect that are needed installed on this it would be a task and half to re install all of them.

Sorry for the ramblings of a mad man, Dinner break in 5 minutes and i got a lasagne waiting for me :D! So somewhat trying to rush!

I don't have a repair disk or a disk of the operating system he is using. He has gone to the show floor now and has been warned about it's new found instability.

Thankfully he has already backed up most of the "important stuff" Just in case but would really like to get it sorted still.

what OS is it?

could try a system restore back to when it was working or try checking the OS files by running this in cmd as a admin sfc /scannow
