With the recent sad passing of my Mum, I have been slowly working through my childhood home, sorting, and doing all the crap stuff that comes with a sad death.
This weekend, I have worked my way up into the loft, expecting to find loads of memories from my childhood.
Unfortunately, it looks like when the loft was re-insulated, all my old stuff went. However, one thing I did find, was this....

I remember buying this from the "catalogue" a neighbor ran. Must have been around 1988. It was £5 a week for what seemed like for ever. It was my pride and joy at the time, and I had completely forgot about it.
I used to have my TV & AMIGA computer all hooked up so everything came out of the speakers.

Got it home, Hooked it up to some old speakers I have, and it works. !!
I have no remote, (Which I remember was HUGE), and I cannot find the original speakers.

Now I don't know what to do with it. My 10 year old daughter was curious at first, especially with the Vinyl and Cassettes.
She then said "Its easier to ask Google to play it Dad"
Sticking a "record" on was really quite something.
Part of me wants to keep it, but I know the novelty will wear off pretty quickly.

Any kind of market for this old tech?

Thanks Chaps.

Managed to "Fix" the turntable today. Although it worked manually, I could not get the Start and Cut buttons to work.
Turns out, after 25 years, grease turns to glue :D.
Cassette decks next. As instead of playing they currently just chew !!

Going to give it some TLC and see how I feel.

Well. My nostalgic joy was somewhat shortlived.
Decided to spend the evening giving the system some TLC. Popped Extreme's Pornograffiti album on the turntable, and got to work......

The cd changer works, but discs skip regularly. No amount of cleaning or pot adjustments can eradicate it completely.
The tape deck is done. Having stripped it down, there are broken cogs and the belts have disintegrated into a sticky almost liquid form.
Some of the buttons on the main unit are less than responsive.

Sure it could all be fixed. Whether i have the time or energy is another thing.
May be tempted by a standalone turntable though. There is a huge amount of vinyl to sort. I had a bit, but nothing compared to what I have found at Mums. ELO, 10cc, Dr Hook, and Paul Young to name a few. That was just having a quick look. Sorting that lot out should be fun.

It's not too difficult to check eBay for completed and sold listings on stuff. This includes Hi-Fi ger by manufacturer.

A turntable not dissimilar to yours went for £40, but it was fully functional. Item number: 374800957568
An amp that looks to be the same model went for £35, no remote or cable, and missing a foot: 285423863508

The Achilles heel for these systems is whether or not the cassette deck and tuner connect only via the special ribbon cables. These carry audio signals, automation control, and power. If the cassette deck and tuner lack their own power cables and signal connections then they're not much use on their own.

I had checked a few listings on Ebay first, then I thought it might be nice to have a discussion on here.
Thank you for the lnfo.
