ok, a mate at work who is damn near computer illiterate has asked me to get him some software so he can get his cds onto mp3 cds (which he's just realised his personal cd player supports)

seriously i need it to be done by the most simple route possible if anyone can help?

i just use EAC & LAME for my mp3s and nero should i wish to burn em (which i dont) - but i really dont think he'd get his head round it my way :(

any ideas?

BTW: he's runnin' Win98

Trouble is one of the easiest ways would be Windows Media Player, but thats only with XP which he probably wouldnt want to do.

I have seen that Nero has got the ability to burn MP3 cd's. I assume when you say that, you mean he wants 700MB of music, as opposed to 70mins of music that most mp3 burners do?

Audiograbber is easy, once you've set it up. Need to copy LAME.DLL to the directory, set rip, mp3, feedb settings, mp3gain, save path, filename/directory save options, etc. But once you do that only need to press one button to rip and encode.

oh come on, eac+lame is so easy. The only thing you have to set up is the command line options for the encoder, then its a case of get cd info from freedb >> hit the mp3 button. How hard can that be?

its hard cuz the dood has to install it himself... and he's only just getting the hang of stuff like maximizing a window!

seriously it needs to be as easy as 1-2-3 - CDEX looks a good option...

You've just gone over the heads of at least 99.9% of the people I work with and they're supposedly computer literate.

Audiograbber - simple pimple.

Code:
-V 2 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d

stick that in the 'additional command line options' box in the external compression tab. job's a goodun. you're computer literate friends who dont know what 'commandline' means are sorted:)

Audiograbber is a great ripper & its now freeware. Just stick in the blade or lame codec & you're good to go. :)

Woa, that's old school. Unless they've resurrected the project? I seem to remember that support for that codec was dropped ages ago (good for it's time, but nowadays it's pretty much LAME and LAME).
