Ok, had W10 pro installed since launch and loving it except for 2 things.

My start menu icons seem to just not work. When i click them to open a program nothing happens. I then have to manually close the start menu and maybe 5 seconds later the program opens....

clearly something is wrong since the start menu should close and the program should open as soon as i click it.

Also opening video/audio files take a good 5-10 seconds before VLC/foobar opens.

Any idea?

Oh and windows 7 had no problems what so ever, everything was instant.

Have you tried any clean up software?
Try the C drive utility first, their is a lot of crap left over with the upgrade/install.

I had this issue as well, but it only cropped up after the KB3081441/KB3081444 update. Was also using Windows 10 Pro. I did an upgrade install with keep nothing. I uninstalled a few apps to see if that helps and it did for some but not for all. I already removed the leftovers from the upgrade as well as I was using a tiny 64GB SSD. The SSD was also a Crucial M4 oddly enough.

I decided to do a proper clean install, this time on my 250GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD (previously used for games) and now everything runs perfectly.

I've seen this issue on both my machines, even after a clean install. Sometimes the system just takes an age to open folders or the start menu.

Well this is a clean install and I have ran everything i can think of but it still happens. Its really getting annoying....
