A friend just got a nasty cheap laptop from a competitor. It's an Advent QC430. It came with Vista but she needs XP to run some of her applications so I dual booted it. No problem there, but I am having real trouble getting it to recognise it has a sound card, it just doesn't appear on the system in XP. In Vista it's seen as 'Conexant High Definition Audio' but searching for solutions to this problem has proved fruitless
Can anyone please help?
EDIT: Ok, I was being foolish one one of the above accounts. The sound card is being seen by the system as an unknown PCI device, but I still can't find any drivers.

The trouble is that although windows seems happy with them, I cannot seem to use the device as an audio device. ie, nothing shows up in control panel -> Sounds and audio device properties. Any ideas?
