Really stuck with what temporary graphic card to go with on this build?

Here is my build which I am pretty happy with. Due to budget problems I'll only be able to afford a 8800GTX or better at a later date, so for now I need a graphics card that will at least be better than my 6800GT!

As you can see I already have the 8600GT in there but I'm not convinced it's a decent card. I need the price to stay as close to £600 as possible. The only thing stopping me from ordering now is getting a graphic card which will do me for a few medium games and a little PS and 3D work.

Thanks

i would wait a little bit and get an 8800gt, failing that get a gts 640 or even a 320 if you can find one.

what abotu an 8800 gt 256?

guess with the change of psu/mobo it could give enough to get a 256 8800gt.

As I said I plan to get a decent graphic card anyway. I just need a card that will do me for now so I can at least play a few games.

I am NOT downgrading any of my chosen components as they are all good enough in terms of performance and price.

So please excuse my confusion but what is the question here? You have a specific budget which is more or less completely taken up therefore a choice of either an 8600GT or possibly an ATI 3650 is all you get new.

Unless you are going for SLi or upwards of 8 hard drives then a HX520 would offer more than enough power. The DS4 has Firewire, eSATA and a second PCI-E slot that works at 4x if you want Crossfire, if you need none of those features then you could save the money.

Your money, your choice of course but if you aren't willing to consider other suggestions then there doesn't seem to be much of a choice to make here.

I'm asking if anyone can suggest a graphic card for about the same price as the 8600. The build doesn't actually matter but I thought it might help if I posted it anyway. I have no idea about budget graphic cards so I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions or cards that may suit my needs.

i have to agree with the above tbh, i think you know what is out there new, and the suggestions given are the only ones worth getting, you can find a good seceond hand deals on things like the gts 320 (second hand) as they have been left by the wayside.

I think you would be better off waiting as money is obviously an issue to a certain extent and you are essentially throwing £40 out the window due to the limited resale potential.

your options are

rubbish new card
better second hand card
cut down your spec slightly and get an 8800gt etc
or wait.

remember the old saying...you can't polish a turd
