Really want to replay MGS4, but has it aged?

as title really, not just visually but i imagine the general feel of it will now feel really slow and dated compared to what we are now used to?

thinking of plugging the ps3 up to the pc monitor to have a go. i have tried a few times in the past to replay it but i never get past the first section and im not sure why!
 
I also didn't take to the game much at all. I've complete MGS 1,2 & 3 and I've always had intentions of completing them all. This game did feel slow and I generally didn't get the feel for the game. I think I'm also going to put this back on soon and give it another go.

Yea! i played it to completion at launch though, and there is one certain bit i always wanted to get back to as it did have a chapter select etc :(
 
I thought that it looked pretty rubbish on release to be honest lol.

Still, if you fancy a go through again I can't imagine its aged too badly. I could go play MGS 1 now and still find it amazing :D
 
It's only a last-gen game and is still a great-looking one at that. It's been a few years since I last played it but I wouldn't hesitate to again. Hell, I'd gladly play through the original MGS right now.
 
I have played and completed MGS1-3 so many times (Third one being my favourite!), but I got barely halfway through MGS4 and I got a bit bored and stopped playing. Don't know if it was the story, or that stupid monkey, or what! :p
 
I played mgs4 on ps3 when it was first released... I was totally gob smacked by how gorgeous and cinematic it was...lengthy cut scenes and that ending.. Ooh erm painful for other reasons lol

I enjoyed it , and its the only mgs I've ever played... Hmm something not right with that.. And iI got the latest mgs gz game free via ps+ and still not touched it.
 
Loved it.
I played all of them for the first time from December onwards and 4 would be my second favourite out of all of them.

1 is easily the best, but I was absolutely captivated with 4.
The ending sequences were wicked and tragic.
 
For the brief period I had a PS3 I tried to play MGS4 and I just found it incredibly dull, I like a good narrative but the cut scenes were so bloody long I felt I was watching a film most of the time and not playing a game. I probably should have given it more time.
 
Completed all the others very quickly but had a good year break after I got to act 3 as I found it boring. Finally went back and finished it and loved the ending act. Love the series and enjoyed ground zero and have phantom pain on preorder.
 
Doubt it's aged that badly tbh. In fact when i played ground zero's i was surprised at how clunky snake handled still lol
 
I played MGS4 not that long ago. It's aged quite well. It's a little fuzzy when it comes to subtle textures but my TV can be quite reveling. All metal gear games are a blast to play so don't worry and enjoy it.
 
Should you play MGS4?

Heck I bought a second-hand PS3 at the start of this year just for that game, when I found out that the PS4 had no plans for proper backwards compatibility. I played it through twice, non-lethal and lethal. Currently stalled on my third play-through on extreme difficulty. My perfectionism won't let me progress without avoiding alerts.

And it does look a bit old, especially since I played it on a 27" 1080p screen, sitting less than a meter away. But it's the gameplay that kept me playing. Made me glad to have bought a PS3.
