Really weird graphics problem?

Following on from my opened box gpu I received this morning.

I have went ahead and installed it into an old Asus P5LP-LE. It wouldn't POST initially. I then swapped out the gpu with a known working EAH2400pro. It worked first time. So I then came to the conclusion. Well the gpu must be faulty. I then took the suspected faulty gpu and tried it in the known working system that the eah2400pro came from. Low and behold it booted with it no problems. I can't understand why the 5450 wont POST yet the 2400pro will.

They are both pci-e, both low power gpu's.

Anyone any suggestions?

Did the seperate tests use seperate PSUs? I would test the rails on the non-working system.

You could also try reseting the CMOS each time you fit the card..

They did indeed use seperate psu's. I cleared the CMOS just to be sure... still to no avail.

It's the OcUK Aphrodite HTPC case with bundled PSU that is in question. With the MSI 5450.

I don't have a multimeter handy to test the rails unfortunately. Surely this wouldn't be the problem as the both cards should draw roughly the same power.

OK.

A little update. I swapped out the PSU with the one that was in the other system, which booted the card fine... it still wont work.

This leads me to believe the card is faulty in some way or another. With the box being opened aswel just reinforces my decision to send it back and get a replacement.

Anything to try before I request an RMA?
