Just put I Am a Bird Now by Anthony & The Johnsons on my Hi Fi.

Now whilst it's far from my favourite album (I am not all that keen on the dominant subject matter and his voice irritates me a little after a while), I appreciate that it is musically a very good album, and there are certain aspects I really enjoy (The clean sounds, the soft piano and so on). It is also well recorded.

Anyway can anyone recommend any really good albums that are very well recorded? I am open to all genres, but as I now have what I would consider a mid-range hi fi (and one that can definatley tell make a badly recorded album stick out like a sore thumb- recent examples being The RHCP's, The Cooper Temple Clause, The Editors isn't that great, etc) I would really like to hear some well recorded stuff in all its glory.

Thanks

Marillion - Marbles (because it is well produced and flippin' brilliant!) :D
Really enjoying this- will definatley be purchasing :)

The only other album I have mentioned here already is OK Computer (And yes, very well recorded indeed; Karma Police sounds sublime and really shows what a sound stage my speakers have)

I thought Original Pirate Material by the Streets was a really well produced album

Is it? Its a decent album (Have it as a legal mp3 album)- no idea on cd production quality though

Trouble is a lot of music is produced, mixed and mastered to sound good on the radio.
Or Ipods... They try and create this 'wall of sound' impression by cranking up the recording levels.

Ok ordered a few new cds today using some spare vouchers I had- quite an eclectic mix- hopefully some well recorded material in there:

Gomez In Our Gun & How We Operate (Not for the recording quality but just to finish off my collection of their albums)

A Certain Trigger- Maximo Park (Expecting this to be a poorly recorded one tbh but a great album nontheless)

Shpongle-Tales of the Inexpressible

Marillion- Marbles

Pieces in a Modern Style by William Orbit (Been meaning to get this for ages- thanks for reminding me it existed :D)

Call Off The Search by Katie Melua (Bit of a wild card as only heard Crazy, but if the rest of the album is musically similar it will sound great on my system)

And picked up Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas too as it was going cheap

Stereophonics - just enough education to perform (think its that one)
Most of the 'phonics stuff is average at best in terms of recording quality.

Well they came today- and what can I say... Marillion's album sounds sublime on my system- clearly top-notch recording and an excellent album too :)

Shame about Maximo Park's dire record quality- Sounds like they had the treble fader at +10 and compressed it to 96K MP3.
