REALLY Wierd Sound Problem

Ok im not sure whats going on but I am getting sound ok but something happened recently and I cant figure out what.

I can play games ok with sound, watch Films and play music but I can only play games ok with sound with basic acceleration in DirectX (Fails on Test 20) I am using a creative labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card.

When running speaker test I hear nothing when I click "Channel" or "Noise" and when I run diagnostic it fails to detect hardware yet when I goto device manager it says its working fine ???

Anyone have any ideas other than a reformat ?

What does dxdiag have to say on the subject?

Have you tried wiping and re-installing the god-awful Creative drivers? There's a link on here somewhere with some third-party unofficial Creative drivers - may want to give those a shot.

Fails on Test 20
Mono, 8-bit 22khz From a hardware buffer.

I fired up my game hard drive that I use and sound is working fine on there and card is detected and all checks pass but on this hard drive it just wont detect the sound card. Gonna see if I can find something tomorrow if not its reformatting time

This is weird, I decided to reformat and installed sound card from CD and it passes all tests. Update from site and now it fails to detect hardware ???
