Realtek HD - ( X-Fi mod driver !! )

IIRC it only enables up to EAX4. It's should basically be on par with an Audigy 2 or Extreme Audio.

idiots, some of them members and mods. ive been reading through that thread and they have no idea what they are talking about.

This is pretty sweet but I waiting for someone to force the ATI HDMI audio to support 5.1 for gaming and windows audio not just video play back.
doesnt work and never will.

1. the Creative drivers bluescreen on the ATI HDMI.

2. those sound cards are 2 channel only, without real time encoding - and they lack that hardware. HDMI will never support 5.1 gaming without an encoder card - ever

its LPCM, of course it IS 5.1 output. you dont need DD or DTS encoding when you have LPCM output. and that post is coming from a mod!

Lol, so now you can put those awful resource hogging creative drivers on your machine without even needing an X-fi? I think I'll pass... :p

Can someone tell me the point of using X-fi drivers with onboard sound?

Dependant on what card he has ofc, if he has a series 2 card then they were more limited (was 2.0 or 5.1 via LPCM, I can't remember which), but you're right some people just obviously don't know what they're talking about which is a shame, as it's completely misleading, I'm using 5.1 from my ATI card everytime I play a game on my PC!
The guy probably knows PCs, he obviously doesn't seem to know much about audio. I hope someone has brought him up on this later in the thread.

Haha, I get stuttering in a lot of game audio with 192, WoW especially, so I'm using 96/24 5.1 (possibly an amp issue, can't really be bothered to fiddle as I know 96/24 works). Either way sounds pretty decent :) I actually have the speakers to run 7.1, just not the space, my hi-fi equipment inhabits my room as I rent with a friend :D

And that mod probably has a deeper problem - he doesn't own any common sense haha

Sorry to bump an oldish thread, but my sound card died leaving me to suffer with onboard sound, and this modified drivers actually make it sound half reasonable.

Hmm, I'm tempted to try these drivers if I find a spare HD to test them out with... I only need ASIO, do these drivers give ASIO capabilities?

I wont use them personally unless the Creative XPAND/Surround mode works in vista/win7 :(

However others prefer just the drivers lol
