Realtek website. Drivers question.

Just a quick question really. I've just been on the realtek site to see what the latest audio drivers are as the Asus website hasn't updated them in a long time. When you go to the driver section theres only one driver to download. Am i guessing right that it's a unified driver for all chipsets?

When I had onboard sound I just used the drivers from the mobo manufacturers website, they were the same every time. I dont think that audio drivers are updated as frequently as gfx card drivers. You should be fine with the current ones or invest in a soundcard like I did :p
 
Reason why im thinking of updating is because i can't use h/w audio on BF2. Most of the sound is fine but i get stuttery comms. I'm waiting for the X-Fi XM to drop below £70 before buying one :)
 
Do a search for realtek 1.34 on google, depends which chipset I think, do some research on those drivers to see if they are suitable for you onboard sound. I have an a8r32-mvp, and just upgraded to these, they are certainly less scratchy than before, though I hae not tried the hardware sound rendering in BF2 with these......
 
type in the model number into the search engine, that'll show your drivers. I don't think they're unified, I have 202 (laptop) and 8xx (desktop) and different file names. But I do use Realteks drivers, not the manu. older drivers.
 
It's for the ALC850 chipset. I've typed that into google and i get many returns (mainly for 3.52 and 3.54 drivers) but nothing from the realtek site. Any ideas why there's only one driver to download from the official Realtek site?

Edit: Realtek ALC882 HD Audio Codecs 1.34 can't use them :(

Edit2: Something that's confusing me is the returns show 3.52 and 3.54 (which are dated older that the ones i'm using) the one's im using from Asus.com are labelled 58.70. Why such a drastic change in the way theyre labelled? Damn i'm thinking of forgetting this and buying a X-Fi this afternoon.
