Reaplcement for 6970

Hi

My sons 6970 has recently given up the ghost and I'm going to be looking for a cheap'ish replacement on MM.

This is where I need your help, what is an equal or comparable card these days?

I could do without spending a fortune this close to Christmas, and the 6970 is good enough for his needs.

I was looking at a 960, I'm assuming this would be an upgrade?

Well ideally about £150 in the second hard market.

I could get a 960 new, but presumably I can get something better for that budget 2nd hand.

That said, I don't need to spend £150, If I can get something comparable for £100 all the better

the 6950 is roughly equal to a 7870 ( / R9 270X)

A 960 will be a decent upgrade yeah, but not many have popped up on the MM. I'd say go for a 7970, 680 or 770 which all beat it and go for less than £100.

780s and 290s go for up to £150.

yes agree 780 would be an awsome upgrade if you can find one. Almost matching a 980 at times

but like others have said a sh 7970/gtx770 will be a great upgrade
