Reapplying 6970 TIM ?

Temps on my 6970's are quite high when playing games and was wondering if cleaning/reapplying the TIM would be a good idea ?

Already looked at third party coolers but they only come in 3 slot variants and i have a soundcard so its a no no.

Any info is appreciated

Yes that will likely improve temps. Giving your PC a good clean will also help as will improving case airflow.
