Hi guys,

I have been looking around for a CPU fan which blows towards the back of the case for a AM3+ socket with a FX-8350 in it. The stock cooler now gets to 58 deg C when gaming.

Can someone suggest a fan of this type for a decent price (under 30 pounds), if it is any higher I may as well get a H60.

Thanks,

Chris

I assume you mean a heatsink and fan combo. Most aftermarket ones are rear exhausting.

Please post what case you have. It'll help those more knowledgeable than I to give you suggestions.

I see that you've mentioned the H60, again I'm going with the assumption that you mean the OcUK Tech Labs version @ £35.99. If you do go for this option, just remember is does required fans & thermal paste which are not included in the price.

To be honest, the fx8xxx run really hot and a decent air cooler in your price range will without doubt, be way better than an all in one water cooler. Also as RightOne mentioned, because the OCuk H60 needs paste and fans, it will end up costing you the same as high end air cooling. I'm sceptical as to how well a h60 can cool a fx8350 at load but ive never owned one to be honest and im just judging it from performance comparisons made to some air coolers, i have owned.

Is your chip overclocked? It seems to be running far too hot for when your just gaming. I dread to think of your temperatures if you were to prime95. Ideally, you don't want your temps at 100% load to go past 61C

The OCUK techlabs H60 version is Intel only, I queried this before. As has been said a decent air cooler is the way to go. I have used a thermalright ultra extreme (TRUE) 120 and now have a Phanteks 14 cooler installed. The TRUE is just sitting in a drawer now but it was good for 4.5GHz with good working temperatures on the FX8350 using two fans.
