Hey wondering if anyone had any idea about this.

Used my bike for the first time since last Tuesday and when I pressed the foot brake I felt a bit of stiffness then it just went and the pedal didn't work at all. Pressing it did nothing.

When I got to work I looked at it and the mechanism is all working but now if I press it on the drum locks and I've got to force it back with my hand.

Anyone any ideas what that could be? I have a feeling that may rear brake might have been binding and I've only just noticed the difference now that it's completely gone if that makes sense?

Taking it to the garage tomorrow anyway but just curious, I've loosened the pedal right off as if I press it in traffic I would have had to get off etc to release!

I've realised that I use my rear brake more than I thought!

Used to be that the cam for the brake shoes in the drum could seize up, fixed with a stripdown and copperslipping of the offending parts.

Have things not moved on from the days of Honda Super dreams then?

Heh budget rear drums on my trusty cbf125 so not really!

Yer thanks I've lubed what on the outside but don't have time to strip it down as I use it every day, I'll drop it in the garage near work tomorrow.

My bike is full of crud so wouldn't be surprised.

Garage stripped them down, cleaned and regreased. All good again, probably all the crud from over winter.
