Hello I own Pioneer VSX329 with tannoy sfx 5.1 speakers. I noticed other day when testing some audio on PC if I click on say left rear speaker that sound will play out from it but it will also play from right rear speaker, Its the same if I click right speaker sound will play from both rear.

I thought maybe its issue how my PC is setup I have optical cable DTS connect/Dolby Live Sound card and 5.1 selected.
Turns out its nothing to do with PC, on the AVR I can enter the tools options and can play a test tone from all speakers L,C,R SW all play as you would expect then onto rear RL plays and also RR plays at same time, test RR and again RL will also play.

A guy from Richer Sounds said maybe I have it wired wrong for them speakers I have checked and its defo correct.
I have even set the AVR to default settings no luck...

Am completely lost here faulty unit? or something I just simply missing.

Any input here will be greatly helpful. Thanks

If the test tones play correctly then the amp is wired up right.

One very likely possibility is that the amp is getting a signal that it is then decoding using Dolby ProLogic. So while you think you're sending a discrete multichannel signal to the amp what it's actually getting is anything from a 4.1 mix (L,C.R, mono rear + sub) right down to basic stereo.

The AMP test tones are doing it also and that is pure audio no processing enabled.

I just don't understand how it can send a audio signal to another speaker? Even if say I unplug Rear right speaker and test tone rear right I hear it on rear left

Red and black cables wired up into the correct slots and same onto the speakers.

Sorry, I missed that you said it was doing it with tones too. Okay, that's odd. I'd look for any stray bits of copper speaker cable bridging the Surr L and Surr R connections. Use a torch to help see.

Also, when setting up did you strip the wire over the vents on the amp at all?

Failing finding any other cause what's left is an amp fault that's bridging the two rear channels. How long have you had the amp and how long has this been going on?

Will take alook at that thanks. Mmm not had it long say less than a year and I can't say how long its been happening only noticed it this week. I not been watching much movies with it and only GF plays ps4.

As you bought it from RS and it's still in warranty, if you can't find any solution online, ring them up or go to the store and tell them you've tried everything you can, and ask if you can bring it in for them to test.

Yeah just called them up and they said I can bring it into them. Best thing I very sure its faulty.

Did some searching, but I couldn't find any sites with with the same specific problem being described. If it's an uncommon issue, that will explain why we can't find much.

I thought you were just go to take it along to RS so they can take a look at it?

Yeah I am but I wont be able to get down there till next weekend. I was just wanting to see if I can find some information maybe a simple fix or something.

Are you sure that every setting is turned off? It sounds like some sort of upmixing is going on, although why it would be happening on test tones I have no idea.

Tuck the unit back and they tested it for me was indeed faulty.
Very nice guys, unit needed to go for repairs I offered to upgrade and pay the extra but instead because they had none in stock for this anymore I tuck the display unit it looked very new they tested this also for me and worked fine.

All in all excellent service from richer Sounds.
