Rear tyre puncture. Repairable?

Hey all,

Just picked up this little beauty today and given the amount of tread left on the tyre I'm disinclined to replace it. Is it feasible to get something like this repaired? Anyone have experiences with doing so? I take it the portable repair kits I see in dealers are temporary affairs meant only to get you home?

Should be able to plug that surely?

That's what I'm hoping for. This is my first puncture so I've got no idea what sort of plug or kit to use
