I am looking to get the fence between myself and next door replaced. So far we have had a quote of £1542 including all components and labour to remove and replace the fence which will comprise of. Does this price seem reasonable to remove the old fence and posts and supply and fit the new components :

7 posts 4 inch x 4 inch posts
5 x 6ft by 6ft Fence Panels
1 x 1.8m Gate
Hinges and latch for the gate.
7 x Finneals.
Postcrete
C clips for the fence panels.

Sounds dear get a few more quotes.
Just had 32m of feathered edge fencing with about 20ish wooden posts in concrete cost us £1600 took the guy 3 days. Think lsbour was £160 a day.
might be worth buying materials yourself and paying labour looks like a fairly easy job. How about diy?

6 6ft close board panels, 7 9ft 4" posts, postcrete, clips and a hole digging tool cost me £350 and a weekend, that's a ridiculous price!

I agree.

7 bags of postcrete - £35 (b&q or alike)
7 x 8ft 4x4 posts - £70 (ebay)
Panels - £250
Gate - £100

£450 plus the other bits and bobs - Say £525 max for all the bits.

Couple of runs to the tip with the rubbish (even hire a small van for about £20 for 4 hours or so)

Weekend work - save yourself £1000

Generally pretty easy to do - get the posts straight and measure the gap every time and away you go.

For the posts you can get a post level which is a spirit level that straps to the post and has a level on 2 sides so you can ensure its straight.

I would be tempted to make the fence 6' high by using a 12" high concrete base panel.
Will stop the panels rotting coz they are on the ground and give you a bit more privacy.
I would be doing that myself too although I know its not everyone's cup of tea.
