ok im strapped for cash!

i need a power supply to run my current system and my upgrade a few weeks down the road is there any that are good for around 30 - 40 pound ?

thanx in advance

Whats wrong with the one in your sig? You'd be better off saving a bit extra, and getting a decent one. Skimping on the PSU is not a good idea. You really should be looking at the ones in the £60+ range.

Ive got a Tagan TG480-U01 480W, and its stunning, but it retails for £58.74. Persoanlly I would be looking at the Tagan, Seasonic or Corsair range. :)

FSP also do some great 'value' PSUs however you are only looking at a 400w model for your budget, for £58 you can get the 500w model which is very good.

the system takes a while to boot as in power on and it seems slow on start up and general desktop is sluggish compared with some ive built lately, just wondering if psu is starting to underpower or something as ive had this setup a year and a bit now, something not quite right.
Wondering if its the mobo, the fans etc turn but it dont boot for 5 - 10 seconds as if it needs more power ?

Thats doesn't really sound like the symptoms of an underpowered PSU to me tbh. Sounds maybe more like the motherboard. Have you got access to a multimeter? (If not, the only cost about £10 and are usefull tools) When PSUs really get pushed to their limit, they tend to start undervolting. Might we worth taking a reading to see what PSU is doing.

ok you could be right, the epox thunder probe readings are as follows and no i have no meter yet need one tbh -

cpu v core = 1.49v/1.52v
+3.3v = 3.3v
chipset = 1.4v
+5v = 4.9v
vdimm = 2.7v
vbat = 3.1v
5vsb = 4.9v

gonna reboot and check them in bios now ......

ok thanks for the input ive been doing some testing and my sound been playing up for about a month where i only getting left speaker output and i thought the speakers had gone wrong but found out today its not them at all but the mobo not giving out both channels of audio as the speakers work fine off a different system, only found this out due to the fact i purchased a 22" belinea off oc for a customer and was testing the audio on that and thats when i realised this problem!!!
Looks like the mobo needs replacing as well, not so good :(
