Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device

Hello,

Ran into an issue out of the blue yesterday, I left my computer on overnight and when I came to it the next day it had the message 'Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device'. It has been working flawlessly for a few months (since I bought the parts from overclockers).

I have done a lot of googling and tried various solutions but I keep running into issues :

I have tried to run boot up repair but it encounters an error.
Tried resetting the PC but it says the disk is locked.
Tried reinstalling Windows but I'm unable to reformat the drive.
Tried this article but when I list the disks the ssd doesn't appear

Has the ssd failed? I'm not really sure what else to do other than buying a new ssd, and if I do this will my windows 10 OEM still work?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

Hi APM,

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately when I loaded up Parted Magic it doesn't see my ssd.

I have tried switching the sata ports, but still no luck.

Thanks

The BIOS sometimes shows the ssd, not always though... The boot options are all correct from what I can see (except when it doesn't see the ssd).

I have now tried it in a different machine with no luck, also tried plugging it in via a drive caddy but couldn't get access to it. Using diskpart I could see the drive but it didn't detect any partitions and any changes I tried to make flagged up errors.

Unfortunately I think it might be corrupt...

Thanks for the replies.

Hi lsg1r,

Yes the caddy had different cables so unfortunately it's not that, thanks for posting.

Do you think this sounds like a faulty/ corrupted drive? Is it best to go through OCUK or the manufacturer for replacement?

Thanks
