Hi i have a linkysys by cisco, modem/router

on my old netgear (and old d-link) when my internet ran slowly i could reboot it, it would resync with my exchange and my internet would be back to normal.

On my routers control panel there is no option to do this. There is an option to disconnect, but once you press this, pressing reconnect does nothing, it will just sit there and not try connecting, occasionally it will connect but instantly drop connection.

So i have to then hard reset it and enter all the config details again through the back up / restore tab.

Is there something I am missing, a way of rebooting it remotely ?

Thanks

I think it might be overheating, its under a desk. Its very hot, have turned it upside down as theres holes underneath it to let heat escape. Its now venting into the room, will see if that works....

Synced at 3.2mbit, on 4mbit service. not even getting the full 48kb/s upload speed. Fail.

Quick thoughts:
- What is the Linksys model number?
- Maybe you could run it on it's side to present a bit more surface area for cooling.
- I wonder if you are 'rebooting' via a "reset to factory settings" either in the web interface or a button (often recessed and thus requiring something like a pen) on the device itself.
- Can your line actually support 4 Mb/s? Can you access extended router stats such as attenuation and noise margin.
