Reboot of Magnum

You know, I come on here from time to time and rant about why remakes are made where the lead character is arbitrarily changed to a woman for no real reason.

Now I read that they are making a new series of Magnum PI. Except this time, the lead isnt Thomas Magnum..but "Tommy" Magnum, his daughter.

I know, I know, its not a remake, its a "continuation", yet it still annoys me.

Magnum's Daughter is named Lily though, so how the **** can it be a continuation?

Her nickname is Tommy, so instead of Thomas Magnum from the original, its Tommy Magnum and its a continuation in that its his daughter and she is going to be a PI, so a continuation of the Magnum PI family line.

Well isn't that convenient. Had he been named Richard, then I'm guessing her nickname would be Ricki or something. I wonder what they would have done though, had his name been Geoff instead.

I wonder if the show would have been as successful if his name was Geoff.
