Reboot time has slowed down

I used to get 59 seconds with windows 7 and my sig spec, using the Restart-Time.vbs. Now I'm getting anything between 69 to 100 seconds, but mostly around 83 seconds. I disabled just about everything in start up items, including AVG, steam, daemon tools, virtual clone drive, ATI catalyst and a few things in services. I defragged over night, it was 5% fragmented on my C drive. I've done spybot, malwarebytes, windows defender. Spybot found a bunch of cookie trackers which are now fixed. I didn't finish the AVG virus scan but it did get to over 2 million files scanned, so there's probably nothing there but I'll do it again all the way through. I've run out of ideas. At one point I thought AVG was slowing things down but now it doesn't appear to be the case. Last night I did get 65 seconds boot up time once or twice, but can't seem to achieve that again. I've no idea what happened to my 59 seconds. What else can I try? CCleaner or maybe some other registry cleaner?

You can run CCleaner to clear out temp folders and such, though doubt it will do much to improve reboot time. Don't use the registry clean function, as it will do diddley-squat.

Windows installs pick up a lot of stuff as they get older, which can slow down booting. More files to load, drivers and so on. To be honest I wouldn't give it a second thought as long as there are no performance issues when you're actually using the OS.

Also, just use Sleep. You can be back in business after about 5 seconds.

Cheers SiriusB. Yep, CCleaner did sweet FA. I guess performance is still pretty quick, but with the occassional slowness. My main concern was framerate lag sometimes during F1 2010, but that may be buginess in the game. I'm also wondering if the amount of processes running was slowing things up. I did have 89 yesterday, but now there are 67.

Yep, I've been using sleep for a while, it's excellent.

I may take a peek in my bios tomorrow, it's been a while. Maybe something needs changing. Probably not, but worth a look.
