Hi all, I have a Citroen Picasso (i know i know) which is subject to a recall, Took it in this morning after booking the appointment and was expecting a loan car. Got to the garage and guess what, no loan car, there excuse was that they had none left!

So i had to pay out of my pocket to get a taxi to work which was the other side of nottingham, (Clifton if anybody knows it) at a total cost of £12.50 and have to get one back at lunch at another £12.50.

My question is can i bill citroen for this? Also i asked them to quote me for the brakes to be replaced - just the pads and disk is £197...is this a good price for the car?

Regards

Richand

for what? all 4 or one wheel?!

I changed both front pads and discs myself, the parts cost me £70

You can't exactly bill Citroen for your taxi as such - however there is nothing stopping you now writing to the company and explaining the situation.

First thing - was a loan vehicle requested/agreed or simply assumed?
My Peugeot went in for a recall earlier this year and I made it clear when booking it in that I would require a loan vehicle for the day.
If you agreed a loan vehicle and then one wasn't available I would first write to the manager of the dealer.
Explain the situation as ultimately it is a dealer issue rather than Citroen direct.
If you have no luck with the dealership I would efinitely esculate things to Citroen UK and see what they have to say about the situation.

Annoying as it is they can't pluck a car out of thin air. If it was agreed you were to have a car then thats naughty on their part, if you assumed they would have one then tbh I would have admitted my mistake and arranged a time to bring the car back when they would have one available. I would say that there is next to no chance of seeing a cheque from Citroen.

I did assume i would get a loan car, Seeing as my car is off the road due to there mistake in there choice of suspension on an MPV.

Surly they would have stated "do you need a hire car" if it was a choice extra?

I feel its pretty bad that i have to pay because of there mistake :(

Oh don't get me wrong I'm in full agreement with you.
If when I contacted my Peugeot dealership they had told me that a loan vehicle was not possible or that it would cost me then a few choice words would have been exchanged.
It's just that dealerships only have a finite number of loan vehicles and you need to make sure you've arranged to have one of them.

When my 20k service came around I rang up to arrange a service.
They actually said I could bring it two days later.
I then mentioned a loan vehicle as I work x number of miles from the dealership and then x again to my work and the new service date was two weeks time.
