We are looking to buy a decent camera before we go on honeymoon. We are doing a us road trip so want a decent camera to capture it all.

We are not really into photography but want to get good quality pictures of the scenery etc.

Can anyone reccomend anything in this price range?

Thanks.

I've been recommended a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 by someone at work which I find at £400.

Can anyone offer advice please.

Actually, the FZ200 should be a pretty good camera for what you are after. Sure, a larger sensor would be nice, but you will probably find yourself wanting some zoom.

I have the FZ200 as well (well the wife has inherited it) as a DSLR.

It's the best bridge camera out there IMO. The lens is superb, focusing is good and movies are superb with it + you will get the opportunity to develop your photography with the manual controls. It also records in RAW (so consider lightroom for post processing). The image quality does not match a DSLR though as it is a small sensor camera after all - but for the price you would have to invest thousands to get an equivalent F2.8 lens across that focal (zoom) range.

i dont want a compact or a dslr, dont want to carry round lenses, so i reckon a bridge camera is best bet.

been reading lots of reviews on the net and i think ive narrowed it down to 3.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200

Nikon Coolpix P520

Sony Cyber-shot DSC HX300

im leaning towards the FZ200 more and more.

Since I have both, I can confirm the FZ200 takes good pictures and very good video - but it is a basically a point and click sensor with a great lens attached to it so don't expect miracles in terms of image quality. They are very good, but a DSLR will be better. For wildlife at that price it's a great camera. Here are some samples taken by my wife:

Also I highly recommend setting some of your budget for lightroom. The difference you can make in post processing is tremendous, its a tool worth every penny IMO.

I don't plan in getting into photography but I just want some nice pictures. I may try a bit of editing but not much more so wouldn't want to go into it fully with a dslr etc.

Fz200 looks ideal for what I want.

Thanks for suggestions all.
