tried firefox but it gives me loads of greif like not showing images or videos

IE7 with it's in built in Popup blocker, plus the ie7pro software prevents all the popups I've come across.

I used to use firefox with ad block plus it got rid of every ad on every site. If you can't view videos on sites like youtube make sure you have flash installed. If you go to youtube it will give you the link to download flash when you go to watch a video.

I have just made the switch to opera and I think it's great you should try out both firefox and opera and see which one you like best.
