I'm looking for good RPGs that I haven't played, so I suppose I better tell you what I have played:

Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and expansions
Icewind Dale 1, 2 and expansions
Planescape Torment
Diablo 1 and 2
Neverwinter Nights 1, 2 and expansions
Fallout 1, 2 and 3
TES: Morrowind, Oblivion and expansions
The Witcher
Mass Effect
KOTOR 1 and 2
FFVII
Dungeon Siege 1 and 2

I think that's it but I might have forgotten to write down one or two.

I'm strictly after single player RPGs rather than MMORPGs, and I'm not very keen on J-RPGs but If it's an exceptional one then I'll give it a go.
I like RPGs to be party based, but that's not essential, and I prefer dialogue and story based games rather than hack'n'slashers like Diablo. I don't care if the graphics are good or not.

[Edit] I'm not after hybrids like Deus Ex or Bioshock, though they are both great games.

So recommend and discuss some RPGs that I and everyone else should play :)

One of the best RPGs of 2009 , has many awards pre-english 2008 :)

Yeah I've known about Drakensang for a while, thanks :) It looks fantastic, I'm just waiting on the UK release (27 March according to several places).

All of the Final Fantasy Series are amazing, definately play 8,9, and 10.

Blue Dragon is ok if not slightly childish.

I might give FFVIII a go (though I didn't really think FFVII was that great a game). FF IX and X are console only, no?

Hmm your ruling a lot out if you don't like JRPG's.

Exceptional ones for me are Lost Odyssey and Enchanted Arms.

American wise I'd say the original Deus Ex is a fantastic hybrid RPG buy my main recommendation would be Gothic 1-3. Gothics are very similar to Oblivion but very hardcore.

Only FFVII and FFVIII had PC ports (FFXI doesn't really count!), and even then you will probably need a decent "Windows 98 PC" to get the most of it. The PC versions are near enough unplayable on modern systems, though its mainly by luck or how well certain mods work.

The Last Remnant will be getting a PC release within a few weeks time so maybe that could be something to look for.

As for Western RPGs, will you pretty much played most of the main ones already.

Overlord is quite fun, but it's shallow. it's not a stats based RPG, but does allow for some funky character progression.

Might want to give Guild Wars a go as well, huge game, and you can buy the complete set for dirt cheap now.

It isn't strictly an MMORPG (it is officially a Co-Op RPG), as you can quite easily play the entire game by yourself just using henchmen and Heroes (AI players), and you never have to talk to anyone else :)

Googles it up and it looks quite good but why such a difference between the German and rest of the world release dates?

Because the only released it Germany originally. They're nuts about traditional, stat heavy rpgs over there, and it's not unheard of for stuff to get a German only release and never see the light of day anywhere else.

Jade Empire is another Bioware one isn't, it in the same vein as KOTOR? That might be worth a shot.

EDIT - Oh and Fable + Fable 2 seem to be highly regarded.
