Because their seemed to be two sensible actions and wanted advise on what seemed like the more sensible course of action.
I'm sure you've asked before between two options unsure what the best way to proceed would be.

There are not "two sensible options", there are two very obvious things you should have already done.

You've tried to take it to the right address, that didn't work, so you call UPS or leave a note. End of.

At risk of looking like I'm bashing the Op (which isn't my intention), we should all have a week off the internet and see how we manage to cope with every day situations.

I suspect there will be several house fires, arrests for fraud, embarrassing birthday gifts bought, several relationships ended, and several violent relationships rekindled, gambling debts sky rocketing, cars veering off roads due to bald tyres (or incorrectly purchased Ling Longs), multiple bouts of food poisoning from eating out of date food, a number of people getting fired, a number of people retaining their jobs through fear of handing in their notice, neighbours starting turf wars over parking, and an irrational loathing of any seasonal event leading to escalating rows and potentially death.

Well, that's what I can remember from the last couple of weeks on the forums anyway. :D

Just get proof that you have handed it over to them or let UPS deal with it all. You could get in trouble if you just give it to them and they claim it never arrived which of course it didn't.

Ahhh good old UPS, I spent a week waiting for a parcel which they constantly tried to redeliver to the wrong house, despite 3 phone calls giving them explicit directions and a contact number if the driver got lost.

Yeah that's my worry. I think my mum knows them, she seemed to know the surname. Probably one of her churchy things.

Why is no one saying to open it and keep it??

The fact you can remember all of that off hand tells me that maybe you're the one who needs a break from this place ;)

I take packages all the time for people on my street (maybe thats different) Due to my shift pattern I'm home during the day for half the week so I always sign for stuff then deliver it when they're home in the evening and I've never had a problem.

I even signed for a parcel for a neighbour who we don't get on with (to cut the story short, my dad kicked his dad's ass in self defence police were called etc, etc..)

I just left the parcel at their front door and rang the bell and ran lol (they were home)

I had someone wander round to my house the other day, saying my Shania Twain CD had been delivered to their house a few streets away by mistake. True story.

Dad returned it this evening. Mum said she knew the surname due to the mistake happening before. But by the sounds of things when my dad dropped it off he's too much of a grumpy old git to be able to try anything.
