I have to press the power key 20+ times for the pc to turn on
Also it wont detect the windows disk in the Cddrive atm i dont have a windows xp 64 bit version only the normal 32 bit version.... (I bought it without OS installed)

Also when the pc does turn on i get an error says The pc restarted with an error because of an overclock or the voltage was to high/low

This is the pc i bought
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-065-OE

I phoned up customer support they said to take the bios battery out for 45mins to an hour to clear all the overclock settings but im not completely sure thats going to work it shouldnt effect the power settings should it? it shud at least pick up the windows disc if the discs in cause it searches for it....

Well the main question is why isnt it picking my windows XP disc up and why do i have to press the power button 20 times for it to turn on...

As this an OCUK built PC then I guess you should contact them first (as you have done).

If it is allowed under the warranty with OCUK, there are a couple of diagnostic things you can do if that mobo battery fix doesn't work:

-I had a similar problem (taking loads of attempts to POST properly) a while back and I found it was a dud stick of RAM. I suggest taking out all but one RAM sticks and see if it POSTs. Change the RAM stick till you find the dud one.

-As for not reading the windows disk - i'm assuming that you set the boot priority list so DVD drive is first. Also, if its an old disk, give it a good clean - i find it does a world of good.

The disk was cleaned ... And Cdrom is actually set to first drive... but taking the battery out will clear all the bios settings yes?

Might be worth posting in the customer forum section, they may have the settings recorded.

well is this normal for this processor when im playing games the processor is moving from 2.2 ghtz to 2.8 ghtz even when im running programs and watching the speed on cpu-z the power goes up and down .... when understress it hardly stays at the max speed goes to 2.2 ghtz sometimes :S

When you say stress, do you mean prime or Orthos or general work.

If it's the latter then it's normal, Intel speedstep.

Done a thread while ago might help: Clicky

I tried prime95 and i run the test and the pc goes to blue screen and crashes says need to restart pc... and it works fine when im playing games n stuff.. Is prime95 not required when using speedstep? (I notice when im using the heat is always low)

You can call the overclock "stable" when it will run though 6+ hours of Prime95 with no problems as it will stress the CPU to 100% utilization.

If you cannot get Prime95 to start without crashing, I suspect that the overclock is unstable, you may want to scale it back (to around 3.5GHz till you can figure what the problem is). For a 1% loaded CPU - those temps look rather high, you may want to try reseating the heatsink.

Speedstep only kicks in and reduces the speed/power consumption of your CPU when it is lightly loaded. When running prime95 it should not kick in at all, because the CPU is heavily loaded.

Edit: I just realised that the 3.8Ghz overclock is no longer enabled (obviously after you removed the battery). In that case, those temps are definitely too high for idle @stock - you should reseat the heasink ASAP.

Also, Why windows XP 32bit? You can download windows 7 RC 64 bit for free and use it till March 2010. It's a much better OS and will give you access to all your lovely RAM.

IMO, if the machine is still new I'd contact the shop if its got all those problems. It should be stable/good temps/etc if pre-OC'd by the shop

Sorry the other pic was posted after stresstesting this is after no stress testing

Well the saved profile on the system is 3.63 ghtz i load the default OC profile run the prime95 temps go to 85 degress then the pc auto shut it self off, (the overclock is supposed to be 3.8 ghtz!) but it runs for 2 mins i dont get a blue screen pc auto turns it self off after 2mins ( i think cause overheating )

Basically i think the profile on this pc is wrong for this pc cause the clock speed is wrong... ect

I tested this pc in the normal none overclocked mode and reset the close back to default to 2.66 ghtz and run prime after 10mins these results

Isnt the heat to much after stress testing 10mins?
(please be aware the system isnt overclocked atm)
I did this test to see the heat ... and to see if the pc was even stable without the overclock...... I think its stable but these heats seem high for even a non overclocked system No?
