Someone asked why there has been so many thread necros recently. Let me tell you why. It's because threads from 3+ years ago were so much better than what we get today. Delete/lock-happy forum moderation has made GD a shell of its former self and lacking in both fun and soul.

Seriously... What is the last good thread you remember? Mine was probably the guy crying from listening to Thunder Child and that was god knows how long ago.

I'm trying to save GD and make it more Alpha again, but sometimes even when you call a duck a duck you get told off why you shouldn't assume a duck is a duck, even though you know it's a fact it's a duck.

I would agree. Especially with posts just being deleted. Even threads sometimes..

It's definitely not working as I've noticed the forums become noticeably quieter even beyond the seasonal variations.

Not really seen a huge difference personally - a few religion/race context posts/threads got pruned where people didn't seem to know when they'd gone too far - not really noticed anything else of significance.

threads by DVDBunny were often randomly amusing IIRC

This is the best post :D

We have an OP who never posts anything of any worth and the third poster who walks his cat (this is not a joke), the 4th poster who I bought some toys for his newborn son even though everything he posts is awful (this is also not a joke) and the sixth poster who is just an all round asshat ...

... and even then the claim is that GD doesn't deliver?

Evidence submission A : this thread.

The moderation on here is generally OK. It's just when certain mods take it upon themselves to make up their own rules as they go along and lock/delete posts/threads purely because they disagree with them personally rather than them being in contravention of any forum rules, or when certain members are allowed to get away with posting things that others get warnings for that it starts to be a problem.

This forum is part of a computer parts shop! How exciting do you want it to be?

I've not noticed any significant change, but I only usually dip in once or twice per day for a browse.

You need to be alpha first. They ran out of letters in the Greek alphabet for where you stand.

Better get hustling ;)

The mods are just so trigger happy. Anything they remotely don't like = instant ban/suspension/deletion/locking.

Good moderation should barely be visible. That's certainly never been the case around here.

what utter nonsense the threads being necro are not religion based threads or even controversial, they are utterly mundane threads that you can quite happily post know.
