I bought a G502 mouse after some good reviews of it. Obviously not from OCUK as they don't stock them anymore.
I plugged in the mouse and the default MS drivers in Windows 8.1 installed automatically and it worked as a dumb mouse.
I checked the Logitech Gaming Software in order to customise it, but the mouse wasn't recognised. I checked the Logitech web site and the latest version was required. I downloaded it and proceeded to try to upgrade the version I had. The installer failed. I removed the previous version and tried again withe same result. I tried removing all ancillary equipment and a base boot - same result. So I downloaded and reinstalled the old version, which was fine, but doesn't recognise the G502. I tried the software on Windows 7 and it worked fine, but not on Windows 8.1.
I contacted Logitech support, tried the things they suggested and sent them a load of diagnostic information. They escalated to their higher tier support. About 3 weeks later they told me there was nothing they could do and I should ask Microsoft or the PC manufacturer why their system is incompatible with Logitech software.
That's the last time Logitech get any custom from me.

Yeah i've found Logitech can be pretty useless when it comes to drivers for their hardware. There seem to be a lot of successful stories on here of good customer service, but I think they're mostly related to hardware issues that they can actually fix.

A friend of mine has a 502 on 8.1 working well. Try uninstalling all Logitech software, restart your PC, install the latest version and ten plug the mouse in and see if it's recognised.

G502 and win8.1 here - works fine

Yes I know it is fine for some, but trawling the internet, there are a lot with issues to. But it is really ridiculous of them to tell me to ask Microsoft why the OS has issues with the Logitech software. Fundamentally they weren't interested in investigating the compatibility problem with my particular system.

I had a similar issue with a cm mouse and specifically win 8.1. After I'd spoken to the cm rep on these forums he implied that Microsoft have changed something with how the os handles a mouse input, it would happen at random and with no specific setup, a fix was in the works but fundamentally it was down to Microsoft to patch.

The cm mouse would constantly cycle between connected/disconnected in a matter of seconds, purchased a g500s which works flawlessly.

Mine worked straight away too, can you not return the mouse to where you bought it from and ask for another one?

It would probably be more trouble than its worth. If I had got it from OCUK I'm sure they would be very reasonable about it, but it's my fault for going elsewhere. In future, where possible, I'll stick with products that OCUK stock.
