Recent Opteron purchases

It seems many have been buying the 165 Optys recently as they are dead cheap. For reference it would be usefull to know which steppings you actually got and how they performed. Please post your motherboard as well.

I am particulary interested in those who got delivered during the last month

just as a point of interest CAB1E and CCBBE are very popular steppings so id guess you wanna keep your eye out for 'em

try to avoid the CCBWE steppings as they don't clock well.

Thanks for the replies, however I am well aware of this info Im more curious to find out if the theory that EOL and a mature process will virtually guarantee you a prime chip, is a correct one.

Nobody knows what has happened at the fabs, but recent batches are very good clockers; much better than any that have come before. Whether they've changed something in the production or just gained experience ("mature"?) is guesswork.
