Hi there! Been awhile since I posted here, but seeing as I recently bought myself a nice new bundle system from ocUK I thought I'd share the recent issues I had with it and what I came to find, just in the event someone else out there is having these same issues and are slamming their face against a desk :D

Anyway, I shall partition this post into sections to make it an easier read, enjoy!

Fault Summary
The issue that was occurring was a strange lock up of programs, seeing as I was running 16GB of DDR4 2133mhz RAM and a 3.30 Haswell-E 6 Core Intel CPU with Win 8.1 I found this a tad strange (as I'm sure anyone else would).

To give a better explanation here, say you opened up say Google Chrome, it would (sometimes) open up and perpetually load, no indication of it making any progress so it's assumed at this point it has crashed, when you close down the program and go into task manager there will be 3-4 other instances of Chrome running alongside it, ending task on those instances and running the program again will sometimes work, but other times just repeat the issue or show an error message with File System Error (or something to that degree).

Troubleshooting
So, as one would expect I was right on to ocUK with questions regarding the system, trying to figure out what was going on as it was a brand new system that I had for about a week before the issues became apparent, discussing this in detail we were pointing towards an issue with the RAM, as it was happening as soon as the programs were launched.

There were suspicions also pointing out towards the Motherboard being the issue as well as the operating system.

Fixes
So, first I tried to run the memtest86 to figure out if it was indeed a bad set of RAM in the system, I ran this test multiple times and it came up with 0 errors, but sometimes these can give false positives.

So I decided to try removing 1 of the RAM sticks to figure out if it was just a bad stick of RAM, after doing this it seemed that the problem was solved, but it became clear it wasn't when the problems persisted again and I was left with the dilemma of trying to figure out what else it could be.

I figured it couldn't be the motherboard as I'd be seeing issues across the entire board, ranging from the GPU, CPU and the RAM and any devices plugged into it, but from what I could gather there was no indication of an issue with anything else.

So I decided to look towards the OS, I've worked in a few jobs in IT and knowing how an OS can have a botched install but not show signs until further down the line I decided to use the refresh OS option that comes with windows 8.

After refreshing the system and reinstalling some programs back to how they were prior to the refresh, I noticed the system was much more responsive. No programs were failing to launch or showing any errors at all.

Conclusion
So it turns out the issue I was having was a bad installation of the operating system, a quick refresh prevented any major issues from occurring further down the line, or having to send parts back for replacement which can be really awkward.

I hope this helps others that may come across this issue or know someone that's currently dealing with this issue, if I come into any further problems relating to this I will update this post, but it seems for now that this is the fix for this issue.

glad to see it was a OS issue and not any hardware issues or setup problems.

did you do a clean install again of the OS or did you do the factory reset option in windows 8?
I used the "Refresh OS" this reinstalls the OS without affecting any of the files in your system, it was also great because I have Steam installed on a 2nd HDD, so I installed steam again to that drive and it kept my games all installed :)
